The Parishioner is a quarterly newsletter of St. Luke Catholic Church. Its purpose is to share with all the families of St. Luke Parish the news and inspiration of both parish organizations and individual members of our Christian community.
The mission of this newsletter is to share God’s work in our church family. We want this publication to share our stories of God’s presence in our lives with all our parish family.
Volunteer OpportunitiesIf you enjoy writing, interviewing, reporting, The Parishioner can use your skills. If you are a photographer who can take on-location pictures, you are welcome. Organizations are encouraged to contact our staff when they have news, upcoming events, or feature stories they would like covered in the newsletter. Staff members also gather for a planning meeting before each quarterly issue. At this meeting, story assignments are made and deadlines are set.
Training
None required. Enjoying writing or photography is a plus.
Time Commitment
Volunteers commit to four meetings a year, which are held during the evening. Photographers need some availability for on-location photo shoots during parish-sponsored activities. Writers are responsible for making contact with their assigned organizations. Interviewing and writing are scheduled by the reporter. Stories are completed by the assigned deadline. Approximately one week each is allowed for editing, layout and print. Reporters usually have four to six weeks to complete an assignment.
